Hot-plug, front-accessible disk drives; redundant power supplies; cooling fan trays; and a Socketed System Configuration Card that permits easy and quick identity transfer enhance the Sun Fire V445 server's reliability.

Easily visible system and component LEDs provide service features that help enable quick diagnosis and repairs, while the system's Advanced Lights Out Management (ALOM) provides remote management and diagnostic capabilities. Features such as eight PCI slots (four PCI-X and four PCIe), four 10/100/1000 Mb/second Ethernet ports, up to eight disk drives, and 32 GB of memory provide scalability for the Sun Fire V445 server - all in a rack-optimized compact, 4U form factor.

Powered by either 1 x 1.34 GHz or 2 x 1.5 GHz UltraSPARC IIIi processors, the Sun Fire V240 server is an entry-level, data center-class server. It provides high availability and expandability in a compact, 2U package. Four autonegotiating Gigabit Ethernet ports provide multiple connectivity for high-speed, high-bandwidth networking, while hot-swappable, front-accessible disk drives and redundant, hot-swappable power supplies (with independent cords) further enhance the Sun Fire V240 server's uptime. With expandability features such as three PCI slots, up to four disk drives, and eight GB memory, the rack-optimized Sun Fire V240 server easily scales to meet the needs of Tier 1 and Tier 2 applications.
